Bundt Cake

Making a Bundt cake is a delightful baking project that results in a beautifully shaped cake with a tender crumb. The classic Bundt cake usually features a rich, buttery flavor, but there are numerous variations you can try. Here’s a basic recipe for a classic vanilla Bundt cake along with the instructions and baking time:

Ingredients For Bundt Cake:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a standard 10-12 cup Bundt cake pan, making sure to coat all the nooks and crannies well.

Step 2:

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

Step 3:

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Step 4:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 5:

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream and milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

Step 6:

Stir in the vanilla extract, ensuring it’s evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Step 7:

Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8:

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Baking times may vary, so keep an eye on the cake to prevent overbaking.

Step 9:

Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.

Step 10:

Carefully invert the Bundt cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional Glaze:

  1. If you want to add a simple glaze to your Bundt cake, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake, allowing it to run down the sides.
  3. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.

Serve your delicious homemade Bundt cake as is or with a scoop of ice cream or fresh berries for an extra special treat. Enjoy!

Please note that the baking time can vary depending on your oven and the size and type of Bundt pan you use. Always keep a close eye on the cake during the last few minutes of baking to ensure it doesn’t overcook.
